Maybe you already noticed while browing this site: I’m a guitar player. But I’ve always been fascinated by synthesizer sounds and I like to play around with software synths. And then I found out about Zynthian, a software synth hardware player (and more) based on a Raspberry Pi. I could not resist – I had to build one!

It is a complete custom build, the case is made from wood and aluminium with a top made from transparent acrylic. It has hardware MIDI In, but you can also connect Keyboards through USB. To be honest, I don’t use it much. But everytime I turn it on, it is real fun. I should upgrade the Raspberry Pi to a version 4 or 5 board though, because the RPi3 is a bit underpowered. It is working ok as long as you don’t use more than one sound layer.
